Keeping your floors clean is a major part of maintaining hygiene in your home.
You walk all over your floors all day, every day. You might also have pets and messy children who are all too happy to traipse mud through the house, drop food everywhere, and generally have no regard for the cleanliness of your floors. Cleaning your floors can be time-consuming, but you don’t want to spend all of your time sweeping, mopping, and vacuuming. Fortunately, you don’t have to waste time cleaning your floors when there are better ways to do things. Try these tips to make floor cleaning easier and more efficient.

Make Sure You Mop Properly
You know that you need to mop some of your hard floors to keep them clean, but are you doing it properly? It might seem like a pretty simple and intuitive thing to do, but a lot of people get it wrong. Make sure that the first time you pass your mop over the floor, you’re getting the whole thing wet. Don’t flood it, but don’t squeeze out your mop so much that it’s barely wetting the floor. Start around the edges and then go to the middle. Flip your mop over when one side gets dirty and rinse it when both sides are. Then rinse the floor with clean water and a damp mop, rinsing frequently.
Deep Clean Your Carpets
Carpets can be tough to keep clean, which is why many people choose not to have them. Vacuuming picks up hair, dust, and various debris, but it won’t clean your carpets completely. Every now and then, it’s a good idea to deep clean your carpets. A service like Chem-Dry of the Grand Strand can clean your carpets for you to ensure they’re really hygienic and aren’t harboring dirt and bacteria. If you want to clean them yourself, you could also try using a steam cleaner or hire (or buy) a wet and dry vacuum cleaner.

Know Your Floor Materials
Do you know what your floors are made of? It’s important to know if you want to clean them properly. If you use the wrong methods and substances to clean your floors, you could end up damaging them or just not cleaning them very well. If you’re not sure what your floors are made of, do a little investigation to find out what the material might be. It’s also useful to find out whether they are sealed or not because it can affect what cleaning methods you should use.
Keep Floors Clean Longer
Prevention is better than cure and keeping your floors clean for longer means you don’t have to wash them as often. Using mats at entrances is a good way to prevent dirt and mud from being walked across your floors. Taking your shoes off indoors is also obviously a sensible thing to do if you want to keep your floors cleaner for longer.
Use these floor cleaning tips to clean your floors more efficiently and keep them clean too.
