Areas Of Your Home That’ll Need A Clean During The Winter

The winter can be a very harsh time of year, and your house really will see the worst of it as the season goes on. You may need to mount a DIY effort here and there, but most of all, you’re going to have to slip your gloves on and get deep cleaning every now and then. And there are some areas of your home that are going to need more attention; here’s a quick list of what needs cleaning the most when the wet and cold comes down.

Wash the Curtains

The curtains are going to catch all kinds of dirt this time of year. Even if you don’t like to have the windows open, any vents or air holes in your home are going to cycle around a lot of outside debris. And your curtains are the first thing that’ll catch bits of leaves, pollen, and any dust that’s being held in the air. So, take them down once or twice a month to put them through the wash

Give the Carpet Weekly Attention

The carpet is going to take a real beating during the winter months. You could be tracking in all kinds of dirt on boots or wellies, and dust tends to build up really bad during the cold season as well. As such, there’s going to be a lot of grime down there, and you may need to call out some professional carpet cleaners to deal with it all! Otherwise get a scrubbing brush and some soap solution out once a week, and wash outwards-in.

Disinfect Your Living Room

You’re going to be spending a lot of time indoors during the winter period, and that means you’re going to need to go around with some antibacterial wipes more often. You’re going to be using the TV and the remote a lot more, as well as any laptops and the coffee table, and who knows how many germs will grow there in the meantime? So get a couple packets right now and scrub off the surfaces in the living room every couple of days.

Sweep Out the Fireplace

If you’re lucky enough to have a working fireplace at this time of year, then you’re going to have a very traditional Christmas on your hands! But before you turn the fireplace on, be sure to sweep it out first. This is a chance to get rid of any old debris, even if you sweeped it the year before, and prevent the fireplace from becoming a bit too active… Similarly, you’ll want to check for anything nesting in the chimney, as well as wipe out any leftover soot you weren’t aware of.

If you want your home to be as clean as possible this winter, you’re going to want to set up a deep clean schedule specifically for this period. Take some time now to collect your supplies, and make sure this festive time of the year is one that’s truly special for you.
