Protect Your Home From Pests In Winter

Pests are the bane of our lives as homeowners.

It can be very difficult when you first become a homeowner to deal with an unwanted pest infestation – and quite rightly you might feel sick when you see these critters in your home

Today we want to talk about some of the simple things you can do in your home to prevent the infestation of many different types of pests from mites to spiders to mice.

There are lots of ways to keep your home protected from pests and we hope that these tips help you keep your home safe and sound this year.

Seal cracks

The first job you can do in your home to prevent pests coming in is to seal cracks in your walls and floors. Look for small openings underneath kitchen cupboards where pests could get in from outside.

Your kitchen in particular can be a huge culprit for openings to the home because your kitchen cupboards are often built into the room before a floor is laid. Make sure to check the backs and underneath of your cupboards to seal the home off from pests and protect your food and your family.

Vacuum cobwebs

It can be difficult to consider pest control when you first move into your home because you never think it will impact you. However, there are so many pests that will make their home in yours because it is warm and has food sources.

Spiders mostly live in the walls but now and again they will come out into your home and roam around. To deter spiders from coming into your home be sure to always vacuum cobwebs as soon as you see them and spiders will likely go back into hiding and stay out of your way.

Hide sugar supplies

Sugar and sweet foods are the biggest culprit for attracting pests to your home. From mice who might look for sweet cereals and sugar to mites who will multiply at an exponential rate, it is important to keep your sugar supplies well secured and away from anything. Use a glass jar or a Tupperware container to seal your sugar and other ingredients and keep them safe and secure.

Get rid of rotting food

Rotting food is something you never think you will have in your home. However if you have a small home and not much storage it can lead you to place things like onions or potatoes in random places to store them.

Forgetting about foods like this is never a good thing and it can cause flies to lay eggs and maggots to overtake your home. Never leave fresh food somewhere you could risk forgetting about it because it is not worth the hassle bleaching your home.

There are some brilliant ways that you can make changes to your home and get rid of pests. Look after your family today and make some changes to prevent pests from invaded your home this year.
