The chances are that you will not have seen your best friends a lot recently.
Certainly not altogether at once. As lives get busier with families and careers, those golden opportunities to catch up as a group can be fleeting and rare so when your BFF reunion does happen you want to make sure it is as fantastic as it can be.
Whether it’s old school friends, your college roommates who you haven’t seen during a busy summer, or even your favorite squad at work, a reunion with friends should always be a reason to celebrate. Here are a few ideas to suggest to your friends to make sure the next meet up is the most memorable yet.
Make It VIP
Sure you could go to the local restaurant and order what you always have, catch up, call a taxi and have an early night. But you could also put on your party dresses and make it a night out to remember.
You could even relive younger days by all meeting up beforehand to get ready together, extending the chance for good-fashioned gossip and exchanging all your favorite makeup tips. Make the evening extra special by behaving like VIPs and ordering bottle service.
You could even go the full hog and order luxury cars to pick you up rather than the regular Uber, as well. Making sure every element of your night out is luxurious and stress-free.
Take A Trip Down Memory Lane
The chances are you, and your BFFs will retell the same stories over and over. Moments that made your friendship unique and helped you form those close bonds. Why don’t you utilize that to make your next reunion a chance for reminiscing?
For instance, if you all met at summer camp, why don’t you hire a holiday home out in the same area, if you went on day trips with the camp that were particularly memorable, then head back there and see what has changed and what has stayed the same.
If your friends are closer to home then why don’t you ask everyone to bring their old photos and you can laugh at the hairstyles you had and try and recall what days each of the snaps might have been taken. This is an excellent way to remind yourself why you became such a good group of friends in the first place.
Make It A Family Occasion
If you are reuniting with friends that are a blast from the past, then the chances are you will have all moved into the next chapters of your lives. Having a reunion doesn’t mean you have to escape your family. You can make them part of it too.
You never know the next generation of BFFs might even be formed when your children all play together. Making it a family occasion like a BBQ or hiring a large villa for a weekend, will give you a chance to catch up but may also help you stay in touch even more in the future as your partners and children form close connections as well. Don’t worry. There will still be time to unwind together when the children are tucked up for the night.
Make It A Digital Retreat
In today’s age, the average American can spend up to 11 hours glued to a screen of some kind. So if you want perfect quality time to dedicate to your friends, why don’t you consider locking the laptops and cellphones away for the weekend. A digital detox can help you focus on your friendships and can also be a great way to destress.
If you are all wanting a more relaxing weekend, you could go even further by hiring a yoga teacher for the weekend. The chance to be zen with old friends might sound even more appealing if you live apart from your BFFs and your friendship sessions are now mainly conducted over online video chats.
Make It An Adventure
Suppose you want to make the reunion completely unforgettable then why not try something new together. If you are risk-taking types, then a group skydive or cave diving or even head abroad for a whole new adventure. These type of activities will help you reform as a unit, supporting and encouraging each other.
But be aware, people’s appetite for adventure does change throughout life. So you will have to gauge everyone’s interests and make sure that you are all on board. You will not enjoy the experience if one of you is overly nervous or ends up feeling left out because they aren’t prepared to take the same risks as the others.
Fundraise
If a friend has been through a tough time or has a charity dear to their heart, why don’t you find a fun way to fundraise together. Fundraising will give you all a common purpose and show your friend that you genuinely care for them and sympathies with what they have been through.
Fundraising is also a great motivator to keep the reunions up as you may wish to give to the cause on an annual basis, making the reunion a fixed point in the calendar every year. Fundraising can be as simple as hosting a bake sale or a car wash, or it can be as ambitious as a sponsored mountain climb.
There are a whole host of ways to raise money for charity. You could take it, in turn, each year to choose your fundraising method, so it mixes it up, and if you are a competitive bunch you can even have a competition for who can raise the most cash or try to beat last year’s amount.
Remember, no matter what activity you choose, the aim is still to have quality time catching up with friends you love.
So don’t over plan and overfill it. Make sure there is still time for catching up, having a laugh and reminding yourself why these people will always be your best friends no matter how long a gap it is between seeing them.
