When it comes to spending time with kids, they really aren’t all that complicated or difficult to keep entertained.
In fact we’re the ones who usually insist on doing things that cost a lot of money, when kids are just happy to spend time with us. For the most part they would be equally as content going around the local park collecting leaves as they would be in a theme park we drove an hour to get to.
However, sometimes there are situations that require staying at home. It could be the weather, it could be money, it could be a multitude of other things. But even if you have to stay at home, there are plenty of ways to keep your kids entertained and spend quality time with them without leaving the house. So, in this post we’re going to share with you what those things are.
Playing board games
The great thing about board games is that they come in all kinds of themes and are available for every age group, so whether it’s things like Scrabble, Memory, or even something like a child-friendly version of Monopoly, there really are a lot to choose from and not only will board games keep everyone entertained for hours, but they are good from an educational perspective and it’s certainly a fun and memorable way to spend quality time together.
Playing video games
Although it’s obviously not a good idea to encourage kids to play too many video games, they do have some good points, and can be educational at times, too. However, if you’re just looking for a fun way to spend a few hours together and don’t have the means or desire to go outside, then video games can be perfect for this. Even if you don’t want to go the traditional video game route, but are more interested in things like arcade games, then you can have a look online and find these online relatively cheap. Whether you’re looking for the best pinball fx tables, or even something more like a slot machine, there are lots of options to find these nowadays if you have space for them.
Making things
Crafts are always going to popular amongst children, and are definitely a great way for you to all spend some time together, so whether it’s making things scrapbooks, paintings, or even baking some cookies together, then making things is a brilliant way to pass some time and have fun together without leaving the house.
Imaginative play
Imaginative play will probably work best with younger children, but often it’s really what they would rather be doing and is a great way to spend quality time with them without having to leave the house. For example, doing something like playing shops, playing house, or even something like pirates, these games really allow kids to explore their imaginative sides and help them be more creative whilst having fun at the same time, so it’s definitely a good way to have fun with them.
