In an ideal world, your lounge will be the room which gets the most use.
This is where you should all congregate to relax. Hence why it’s earned the title of ‘living room.’ Yet, if you’re honest, there hasn’t been much living going on there for a while.
Your lounge has fallen into disuse, and you think it’s about time to change that. Having unused rooms in your house is bad news. For one, you’re paying a mortgage on the whole house. What good is that if you don’t use one of your rooms from one month to the next. Besides which, unused rooms often become stagnant and cold. In extreme cases, they can even get damp.
That’s no life for the room which is supposed to be the life and soul of your household. And, that’s why we’re here with a few suggestions as to why you struggle to spend time here.
#1: You have no pressing reason to be there.
It may be that you have no pressing reason to spend time in your lounge. We’re busy people, after all, and we can’t sit around doing nothing. When you spend time in your kitchen, you can get on with things. In your study, you can take care of extra work. But, your living room offers nothing more than a television. That’s why you should introduce a lounge ‘call to action’. If TV isn’t enough to sway you, incorporate bookshelves. Or, install surround sound so you can watch movies instead of wasting time on standard television? As soon as you provide yourself with a reason, you may find that you gravitate here on a more regular basis.
#2: It’s not a comfortable place to be.
Perhaps you don’t spend time in your lounge because you don’t find it comfortable. After work, you want somewhere you can kick back. As it stands, your bed suits that need much more than your stiff living room sofa. But, the answer here is simple. All you need to do is buy new lounge furniture with your comfort in mind.
Get rid of that springy chair set, and replace it with better options. By looking at something like these reviews of Sofamania sofas before buying, you can make absolutely sure that your new couch will be comfortable. If you don’t think even that would be enough, invest in hammocks or bean bags instead. Make this a room you really can’t resist!
#3: You’ve put more effort into other areas.
Your lounge neglect may be a symptom of your having put more time into other rooms. It may be that you’ve decorated them more recently, or that you’ve designed them to fit your needs better. Either way, you prefer these fresh rooms to your outdated lounge. Guess what? If this is that case, it’s time to update your lounge, too. A fresh coat of paint could be all it takes to make this room appealing once more. Then, you can breathe that all-important life back into it again.
