Saving money might not be your forte, I’m sure that a lot of you will be able to admit to that.
When we have money, no matter how much or how little we have, it’s so easy to just spend it all at once because we know it’s there. That’s the problem we all have, no self control! But when it comes to the home, we have to admit that this is the worst area.
You might not class it as spending too much because you’re not spending it on yourself, but this isn’t how it works. The home is our biggest money drainer for so many reasons, but there are plenty of ways that we can make sure we’re saving money around it. So, sit back, relax, and read these wonderful ways that you can save money around your home!
Saving Tip #1: Fix Rather Than Replace
Fixing something rather than replacing something should be the first thing you think about doing. But is it? Nope. As soon as something breaks we see it as an opportunity to get something new, which is why our bank accounts suffer so much. Because modern technology is great we know that, but the amount of times it can break is too many to count.
Appliance repair is pretty easy to sort out, and you’ll find that most of the appliances that you do have can easily be repaired. The only exception to this would be if something was so old, and that was the reason that it was breaking. In this case, you might be best off getting something new, even if it does hurt your bank account a little bit. Just make sure you go for a cost saving alternative, and find the best bargain that you can.
Saving Tip #2: In Rather Than Out
This could be a hard pill to swallow for some of you. You need to make sure you’re staying in rather than going out so often. If you already do this, then great. But I know that some of you prefer a wine and dine lifestyle out and about. If you calculated how much you actually spent a month on eating, drinking, and generally just going out, it could be well into the hundreds for some of you.
The importance of eating in and relaxing in the house is high. All of the money you used to spend on going out, you could put into a savings pot and use it for something you really need in the future, such as a new appliance!
Saving Tip #3: Old Rather Than New
If you do ever find yourself needing to buy something, think about whether going second hand is an option, which it always is. You might not like the idea of having something that someone else has owned, but they might have only owned it for a week before deciding that they wanted something different. But because it is second hand, the price you pay could be up to more than half of what you would if you were to have it brand new!
